This drawing is part of a body of work titled Glimpses of Fiji. In 2014 I spent five months sailing around the Fijian Islands, meeting local people and discovering remote locations.
The piece pictures a yacht club and bar in Savusavu, drawn by hand using a graphic tablet.
Savusavu has a special place in my heart because that is the town where I have spent most time during my visits to Fiji. I know many locals here and all three of the best places for a nice dinner (it is a small town!)
Savusavu is like a fourth home to me. This artwork is my way of picturing the essence of the place in one image: the shabby architecture with a warm welcoming spirit within a lush tropical paradise.
